Heavy cardboard is stamped out by heavy bronze moulds - both halves, cut out, carefully stapled and sealed and then beautifully painted in bold striking complex colours. The characters depicted are just wild, weird, terrifying and hilarious. They show a whole other, more folklorish and morally ambivalent set of Christmas characters, a nice respite from the usual Christian symbols. Beyond the authenticity of manufacture, these objects also possess the authenticity of place and person, still made in the original factory and by the original family.
